How to be able to Use Cydia for Jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch

So, you have ultimately taken the plunge and jailbroken your iPhone. (Jailbreaking is modifying your phone's system files so that you can install themes, programs, and so on. that aren't approved by Apple). The only differences that you can see are that there are now a couple of added icons on your telephone menu. A single of them is named Cydia.

Cydia has been named the App Shop for jailbroken iPhones. I don't actually like that comparison mainly because there aren't also quite a few games and productivity apps available in Cydia because the iTunes App Shop opened. It's mostly a place to acquire themes, ringtones, system utilities, and so on. Some of which will make your iPhone experience so much much better than an non-jailbroken telephone! It is exactly where you get the tools to make your iPhone truly yours!

Right here are the steps to use Cydia immediately after it really is been installed by means of the jailbreaking method. This report assumes that you have currently jailbroken your iPhone.

Step 1: Tap on the Cydia icon on your iPhone hoe screen and you will see Cydia principal screen. Right here you will locate imperative information from the developer, along with some lists of spend applications (Cydia Shop Merchandise), FAQs, and a couple of How-To articles.

Step 2: Next, you will want to browse products, or packages as they are named in Cydia, that are available by tapping on the "Sections" button at the bottom of the screen. You will see a list of everything available, divided up into sections or categories.

If you Press All Packages, you will see everything available to you, but there are thousands and will be overwhelming. It's much better to browse the sections and locate packages that are interesting to you. For example, there are sections for Ringtones and Themes.

Step 3: Next, tap the "Search" button at the bottom of the Cydia screen. You will see a screen that only has a search box at the leading. Tap the field to bring up your keyboard. Enter "BossPrefs" in the search field and press "Search".

Go down to the "B's" and when you locate BossPrefs, tap on it.

Step 4: You will now see the Cydia detail screen for BossPrefs. With most packages, you can scroll down and see added information. For example, with theme packages, you may well see "Screenshots". Or you may well see a changelog so that you can see what has changed in different versions of a package.

If you'd like to install this app, press the install button in the leading of the detail screen.

Step 5: You will now see a confirmation screen, showing you the size of the package that you are about to install. Press "Confirm" to continue with the install.

Step 6: You will now see a black screen with words going across it. Don't worry, you don't have to have to know! When the installation is comprehensive, you will see a button telling you either to "Return to Cydia" or "Restart Springboard".

It will have to exit Cydia and restart the Springboard for specified kinds of apps, which includes packages that mess with the iPhone's operating system. If it does, just wait for it to come back to your iPhone menu.

Step 7: If you go back to the iPhone dwelling screen, you will now see your package, or application, installed.

Step eight: Now go back to your Cydia application and tap the "Manage" button. You will see 3 choices. "Storage" will let you know how much space that you have to install a lot more applications.

"Sources" will let you add a lot more sources, or places exactly where added packages can be discovered by Cydia. See the Points for added information. Press "Edit" to add the added sources.

"Packages" will show you what is currently installed on your iPhone. A great number of of the packages that you will see right here are installed by the jailbreak. This is exactly where you will take away applications. I'll show you how in the next step.

Step 9: Press "Packages" below the "Manage" menu item (at the bottom of the Cydia screen). If you want to delete an application, scroll down to the package that you want to install.

To delete, tap on the "Modify" button in the leading appropriate of the screen. It will ask you to confirm and then it will delete.

Step 10: For the final solution, you can select the "Change" solution at the bottom of the Cydia scree. The screen that you see will tell you which of the packages that you have installed have available updates. (You can look at the changelog in the package details to see what has changed.) It will also tell you all of the new packages that have been added. It's a tremendous place to browse for new, exciting packages!

Take some time to browse the different sections. You will locate that Cydia is exactly where you will locate the iPhone modifications that will make you pleased that you produced the effort to jailbreak!
